Match Report to follow: Despite the scoreline; which from the visitors point of view was no reflection on a competitive match enjoyed by both managers who spoke about the match afterwards: “It was a descent work out for both sets of players,” Said Ramsgate’s Danny Ward:

“If it were a league match then both side would have been down to ten men so that’s a measure of how competitive it was; our third goal might have been allowed twenty years ago, but now you can’t charge into the keeper and not get penalized but the ref saw it different. Three nil was a bit harsh; but from our point of view to keep a clean sheet was great. Danny Twyman, our keeper pulled off two great saves, one in the first half was world class and the one in the second was nearly as good, but that’s why we signed him.” Whitstable manager Marc Seager was equally upbeat: “That was much better tonight, better tempo, more competitive, mind you losing Gary Sayer with a nasty tackle in the first half was a blow but we ended the first half nil-nil and looked comfortable. This was a good test for the lads tonight and I was very pleased with the attitude of the lads and we are looking forward to more of the same against Ebsfleet, (‘The Fleet’) on Thursday and I will be asking for the same sort of commitment from all the players.”
