Manager Marc Seager is hoping to announce the signing of two players from his summer wanted list within the next 48 hours, with a couple more to follow shortly after. He told the web site how pleased he was with the turn out of 40 players on Saturday for the 1st session back in preparation for the new Ryman League season.
“Delighted with the turn-out and the quality on show,” said Seager; “with the exception of two or three of last years squad who were unable to make Saturday due to holidays and work, the rest of the lads have put pen to paper. It was nice to get back into the routine and the lads responded well to the first session. We concentrate on fitness at this early stage then when we start the games come thick and fast. There are no ‘make weights’ in the squad, every last one of them is ready for the task ahead, and we know it’s going to test us but we are gearing up for it at the club. The pitch is truly fantastic and would not be out of place a couple of divisions higher, it’s a credit to Joe and Bruce and the long hours they spend on it. Behind the scenes at the Belmont everything is in place ready for the first competitive game, against Thamesmead in the KL Charity Cup in less than a months time. Like the players; my staff and myself can’t wait for the first whistle.” |
