Picture Marc Seager (right) with coach Simon Halsey: Speaking after the Civic Reception hosted by Pat Todd the Lord Mayor of Canterbury to honour Whitstable Towns great season manager Marc Seager told the website: “It might not have much impact now with some of the younger players but in years to come they will look back on this season and days like this and it will still be with them in years to come. The Lord Mayor was a very gracious host as was his wife Barbara, who is the Lady Mayoress and all his staff and I thank them very much for the way they embraced us all. They made us all feel welcome in a way the put everyone at ease, which is not an easy thing to do.
After the reception and the pictures for the press we had a tour of the building, which is so full of history. It was a wonderful occasion and one that ranks up there with all my other footballing memories. It reminded me of when I was in the Deal side, which won the vase, we had an open top bus through the Town then to a reception at the Town Hall, but if I’m honest whilst it was a great honour it’s only as the years have passed that I have realised that these things don’t happen in life too often. That’s why I have been telling the players ever since we won the League, ‘enjoy the moment’ it’s their reward for all the hard work they put into a very long season.” Marc: |
