Kent League champions Whitstable Town travelled to Thamesmead Town for their final Kent League fixture of the season. This was a prelude to next weeks Kent League Cup Final between the two sides at Folkestone next week. Cheered on by their loyal following the Reds were up against the potent attack of Ricki Cable and Curtis Williams who have scored 29 goals in 46 Kent League appearances this season. With quite a strong wind blowing across Bayliss Avenue both sides found it difficult to control the ball. Kevin Fewell kept the scoresheet blank with a superb save from Sam Thomas and Williams blazed over the bar when it looked easier to score. The deadlock was broken a minute before half time when big striker Andy Constable powered home a header past Steve Northwood after some good play from Tommy Martin. The goal of the game came after 57 minutes when the talented Cable went on a mazy run before he beat Fewell to equalize for the South Easr Londoners. Only four minutes elapsed before the Champions went back in front when after a breakaway Sam Prett got the better of Tyrone Sterling and passed to the waiting Constable who finished the move off with a left footed shot past Northwood. Whitstable began to look like a tired side in defence after their long season and manager Seager kept urging his players on from the dugout to 'keep the tempo up, pass the ball.' The games last goal came in the 76th minute when Sam Thomas expertly beat Fewell after some clever play from Williams which resulted in Thomas notching his seventh league goal of the campaign. The game petered out and with the sound of Mr J.Gooding's whistle the celebrations began for players and fans alike as Marcos Perona lifting the Kent League title for the first time in the Reds history.
