WTFC chairman Tony Rouse said after he heard the news: “Whilst I am personally immensely proud to have taken the club forward into a new era, it would be remiss of me if I did not firstly pay fulsome tribute to my predecessor and current Vice Chairman Joe Brownett, together with Bruce Smith and Alan Gower my secretary and all of my committee and my family. Not forgetting the best signing Whitstable Town ever made; as a player and manager, Marc Seager and his management staff and every single one of the squad.

I would also add to every single player who has ever played at the Belmont over many, many years either reserves or first team who have dreamt that one day Whitstable Town would win the league title, this day is for you.

This win is also in memory of many dear friends, some a long time passed, other more recently who although no longer with us will be in our thoughts during this very happy time. Plans were already in place to move the club forward both on and off the pitch, with the guidance and wisdom of the good people I have around me we can make these dreams come true. As Marc often says there is no ‘I’ in Team, and the thing I take strength from is that at WTFC we always try to do things the right way on and off the pitch. Joe’s vision when he was jointly instrumental in starting youth football in Kent has reaped its reward as is shown in our own first team and reserves. We have many quality young players throughout the club and will continue to work with these young men to make them better footballers, to enable them to play at the highest standard we can”
‘Come on you Reds.’

“I am almost lost for words, but firstly would like to thank all the players who deserve the highest prise for the way that have conducted themselves and performed throughout the season, each and everyone of them, My management team of Simon, Mark and Graham and all involved behind the scenes that make Whitstable Town the great club it is.

In life its not always the big thing that make the difference; an example was on Monday both Simon and I took the trouble to drive all the way to Sevenoaks just to look at the pitch in preparation for the game on Tuesday. The way the club goes that extra yard to get the player what they want to prepare them for each game, we have the best training facilities in the league bar none which does not come cheap but it means we can train every week no matter what the weather, as I say it’s the little things that make the difference. In the end the little things add up to the Kent League title.

I am a very proud man tonight and would like to thank everyone who has supported me since I joined the club.” Marc

From the Kent Legue website:  Whitstable Town are the 2006/07 Kent Football League Premier Division Champions, a result that was confirmed on Wednesday evening as their closest rivals, VCD Athletic, were held to a draw at Tunbridge Wells. It was forecast that the "title race" would go to the final Saturday but a second half equaliser from Abdul El-Ferdi for 'Wells' cancelled out Paul Foley's earlier strike. With the pressure getting to both sides in the closing minutes they were both reduced to ten men. For Whitstable, it is their first ever League Championship and their second trophy in as many weeks after the success in the Kent Senior Trophy. The dream of the "treble" is still very much alive for the 'Oystermen' with the Final of the Premier Division Cup against Thamesmead Town on Saturday May 5th. Elsewhere on Wednesday, there were wins for Dover Athletic and Deal Town in the Floodlight Trophy (East) against Ashford Town and Hythe Town respectively. Kent Legue
