Greenwich Borough moved up to third place when they also drew, away to VCD Athletic Match report by Mark Wyver: After the euphoria of winning the Kent Senior Trophy against Bearsted the title chasing Reds travelled to lowly Slade Green on Tuesday looking to edge a step closer to the Kent League title. With defender Rob Thomas getting injured in the warm up Jackson Ohakam came back into the back four whilst after both suffering long term injuries Steve Marshall and Sam Prett returned to the front line. Town attacked from the start with in form wingers Micky Lane and Marlon Button both causing the home full backs problems. It was however the home side who had the best chance early on when John Paul McKey headed over from a Green corner. Town left back Tom Parker put in a couple of good crosses for the Reds which caused the home side some panic without testing highly rated keeper James Tedder. Veteran striker Marshall opened the scoring for Whitstable on 37 minutes as he headed home from close range following a corner. Only three minutes had elapsed of the second half when Cup Final hero Button struck another spectacular shot which gave Tedder no chance and gave The Reds a 2-0 lead. With Slade Green losing their discipline it was only ten minutes later before Alex Hossick extended the lead with another spectacular strike after some excellent build up play in the midfield. Tommy Martin struck the Green crossbar and Tedder made a great save from Lane after some great work from substitute Stuart King. The Reds completed the scoring when substitute Michael Adcock scored from close range following a cross from Gary Sayer which found its way to the far post. A good night's work from Marc Seager's men puts them in good stead for Saturday's crunch home game with VCD Athletic. See you there in what is Whitstable's best chance of Kent League glory in their long history. WHITSTABLE 1. Fewell 2. Sayer 3. Parker 4. Ohakam 5. Maine 6. Hossick(Keir) 7. Lane 8. Martin 9.
