Manager Marc Seager's Cup Final message to the supporters.. PDF Print E-mail
Cup Finals at any level of football are always special days, not only for the players and the club but also for the supporters too. Many supporters can support a football club all their life's and never get to experience the feeling of watching their beloved team walk out on the pitch to grace a cup final, but the supporters of Whitstable Town Football Club will have the chance to experience this special feeling twice over the next 3 weeks.  PS ***don't forget your camera and video recorders***
Over the past 18 months since I took charge I have seen this football club grow in stature both on and off the pitch and this is down to everyone's hard work from the chairman right down through to the supporters and with this continued hard work who knows what the future holds for this special football club. Not only have we gone to a different level on the playing side but the supporters have also taken this club and themselves to a different level with average home gates of over 180 and the away support always letting our opponents know that they've just been visited by the 'Oysterboys', they really have been our 12th man on many occasions and this season has seen the official supporters club grow to over 100 members which is an absolutely fantastic achievement.
Since I've taken charge I have always enjoyed a very good relationship with the supporters and have always tried to make that relationship cut both ways, although I know this will never be totally possible because some supporters are so fickle, but that's football and I know that these are easily outweighed by the clubs true fans who are the ones that give this club their full support through the good times and the bad times and this season there haven't been too many bad times, with the 1st team sitting 7 points clear and contesting 2 finals in a bid to complete a treble which is a first for this football club because normally the only time this club is competing for the treble is the 1st game of the season.
I've got total respect for the true fans of Whitstable Town and you have played a major part in this exceptional season that we are currently experiencing and everyone on the playing side knows how much you fans are enjoying it too and they will be giving everything to bring some silverware back to the Belmont not only for themselves but for all you great supporters too. Behind every great team is a great fan base and that's exactly what we've got here at the Belmont with the 'Oysterboys' and with the close link I myself have with the supporters club through Mike Finch & Keith Mount (chairman & secretary wtfc supporters club) it's with great delight that the WTFC Supporters club made the king gesture to sponsor the team for Sunday's Kent Senior Trophy Final at Dartford by supplying the players and management with brand new polo shirts that will help make this a special day even more special with this keepsake for the management and players.
Speaking on behalf of my management team and players,I can't thank the supporters club enough this kind gesture and can only hope that the player/fan relationship continues to go from strength to strength in the future because together it's a winning combination. I know the players and the management are really looking forward to what for most of us is a 1st final and the chance to put some silverware in the cabinet but what I'm looking forward too most is the exciting, explosive atmosphere that is going to be made by all you true 'Oysterboys'. Thanks again for your true support, enjoy the day!
