![]() Picture by Per Laleng: Stuart King against keeper Helaluz Zaman : After conceding fifteen goals in their last two matches visiting Sporting Bengal United were aways going to be up against it when they arrived at The Belmont. They lasted just eight minutes when Micky Lane was bundled over in the penalty area and from the resulting penalty leading scorer Stuart King beat Helaluz Zaman to give Whitstable the lead. by Mark Wyver: The Reds continued to attack with John Akinde and Marlon Button both going close. King also fired a free kick over the bar. Sporting Bengal looked quite useful going forward but never really tested Kevin Fewell in the Town goal. The lead was extended a minute before the half time break when King beat Zaman with a shot which bounced up and over the keeper. The second half began in the same manner with The
Reds attacking and Akinde and Tommy Martin again missed chances to extend the
lead.
It finally became 3-0 when Lane finished neatly at
the far post after the ball had been played across the goalmouth from yet
another Whitstable attack. Ten minutes later it became four when a ball in
from Button caught Zaman in no man's land and the Kent League leading scorer
completed his hat-trick. Just three minutes later Akinde netted his first goal
for the club from close range to make it 5-0.
Two of the best goals of the evening came in the
last five minutes when first King expertly beat Zaman to make it 6-0 before the
battling East Londers scored a consolation with a superb strike from Matthew
Wheeler which completed the scoring in a very comfortable 6-1 win for the Kent
League leaders.
