Picture: WTFC Marc Seager: “It was probably the worst we have played all season,” Town manager Marc
Seager admitted after the game: “If I’m honest the better side on the day were
West Wickham, they must be bitterly disappointed to be going home after such a
spirited performance when they gave it their all. It’s always a lottery when it comes to the penalty shoot out and
no one like to lose when it’s decided by a single kick.
To be fair there was
little to choose between us on the day and they played their part in what was
never a spectacle but always tense game. Once again the groundsmen, Joe and
Bruce deserve every credit for getting the game on after the downpour last
night, I must admit the longer the game went on the more I thought they might
nick it. But once again we were able to grind out a result even when
not playing well, we defended too deep at times but they came to the Belmont
and defensively they we very well organised and a credit to their league. It
shows that the results against Hythe and Herne Bay were no flukes and they
fully deserved to be in the semi finals.”
