PREMIER DIVISION REVIEW from the Kent League website... PDF Print E-mail

After last week's virtual 'wipe out', the Kent Football League saw a complete programme of matches played which included the "game of the day" in the Premier Division at Harrow Meadow between Greenwich Borough and Thamesmead Town. In a tight game, the home side went in front, on six minutes, through Meshach Nugent before a late strike from Victor Lojede secured the points for 'Borough', their third straight victory. Second placed Croydon dropped two points as they were held, at home, to a draw when they entertained Herne Bay. Neil John put the home side in front midway through the second period before Rhys Lawson equalised for the visitors. With Croydon's draw, Whitstable Town extended their lead at the top to thirteen points as they beat lowly Tunbridge Wells by four goals to one at the Belmont.

Picture: Stuart King: The prolific Stuart King netted after just four minutes for the home side, Tommy Martin then added a second before Ben Hilden reduced the arrears. King grabbed his second just before half time and Jake Gess completed the scoring which maintained the 'Oystermen's' unbeaten record. The fastest goal of the day was seen at the Erith Sports Stadium as Hythe Town's Aiden Purseglove netted after just sixty seconds against Erith Town. This became two nil when Mike Smissen netted three minutes later, Ryan Hackett reduced the arrears for Erith but the two one win saw Hythe remain in fifth place. Deal Town came from behind as they defeated Sevenoaks Town three one, a result which saw them move up to seventh place. Tony Atkins put the visitors in front before goals, in the second half, from Jordan Barnett, John Utterson and a Dave Bathgate penalty saw the 'Cinque Port' side home. Erith & Belvedere also moved up as they beat Slade Green at Park View Road by four goals to two. The 'Deres' were four nil up with goals from Mark Nougher, Mitchell Crawley and a brace from Paul Gross before Adam Morrish netted twice for the visitors, one a penalty. Faversham Town, without a goal in four previous outings, netted five in nineteen minutes as they beat the bottom side, Sporting Bengal United at the Mile End Stadium. On target for the 'Lilywhites' were Kris Parker, Andy Martin, twice, Jason Mills and Michael Seager.
