Picture Marc Seager collecting an earlier award from KL Denise Richmond: Whitstable Town manager on
hearing the news that he had been named KPL manager of the month for January: "I am over the moon to have
been awarded the Manager of the month award for January, to add to the one I
collected back in September. Not for one minute in my wildest dreams would I
have ever envisaged that I would be collecting the January award as manager of
a team still unbeaten domestically in what can only be called, to date, ‘a
dream season’.
Please note that I have said, ”to date” because you’ll never catch me getting carried away and I have more than enough experience to know that a lot can change over the last 3 months of the season but at this moment in time the league table doesn’t lie and we deserve to be where we are because over the first 20 league games we have been the best team, the team to beat and gained more points than any other team which is there in black and white for everyone to see. As I’ve said though, a lot can change over the last 12 League games and it’s very important that we don’t take our foot off the throttle and start getting carried away because believe me Croydon, Thamesmead, VCD, Hythe etc won’t give up the fight and will chase us all the way ready to pounce on any complacent mistakes we make. I would like to publicly thank my right hand man Simon Halsey, all my players and not forgetting Mark Lane and Graeme Brown for their untold support, without all these guys I wouldn’t be collecting these sorts of awards. Although it’s a personal award I don’t for one minute look at it like that because here at The Belmont we are a team, we win together, we draw together, we lose together, and there is definitely no “I” in our team. In my eyes this award really should go to the players because they are the one’s that go out and get the points over the month that allows me to be in a position to win these awards, and no matter what the rest of the season holds, whether it’s good or bad, I am so proud of all my players and find it such a great privilege to be manager of not only a great set of players but also great set of individual young men who give everything for this fantastic football club.
