PREMIER DIVISION REVIEW The 'Match of the Day' in the Kent Football League Premier Division at Bayliss Avenue saw Thamesmead Town, in second place, defeat third placed Croydon by five goals to nil. A result which ended Croydon's unbeaten run of fourteen matches, their first League loss since they were beaten by Beckenham Town on August Bank Holiday Monday. The home side were three nil up at the break with goals from Ricki Cable, Curtis Williams and James Brown. In the second half, both Cable and Williams netted again to complete Thamesmead's eighth home win of the season. Whitstable Town remain four points clear at the top as they stretched their unbeaten League run to seventeen matches with a two one win at Lordswood. Andy Constable, on the half hour, and a Stuart King goal, early in the second period, were on target for the 'Oystermen', Sean Hetterley netted Lordswood's consolation. Hythe Town remain fifth, on goal difference, after their goalless draw at Faversham Town, the 'Lilywhites' first "no score" draw since returning to the League. At Winch's Field, Greenwich Borough returned to winning ways with a three one victory against Herne Bay which keeps them in sixth place. Meshach Nugent netted a first half penalty before Chris Hubbard and a Banner consolidated their advantage, Sam Denly scored 'Bay's' consolation twenty minutes from time. After four straight defeats, Sevenoaks Town were grateful for a Richard Brice goal five minutes from time which secured the three points against Beckenham Town at Greatness Park. Erith Town, bottom at the start of the day, lifted themselves above Sporting Bengal United with a two one home win against fellow strugglers, Tunbridge Wells. The visitors went ahead through Luke Wallend before second half goals from Ryan Hackett and Steve Taylor secured the 'Dockers' their first success since they beat Slade Green on August Bank Holiday Monday. Sporting Bengal United replace Erith at the foot, they were beaten two nil at Slade Green with late goals from Jason Clews and Ricky Bennett, their third League win of the campaign.
