“Up until today we’ve played 16 league matches, won 13 and drawn the other three and have 14 games to go to the end of the season so I’m just taking it one game at a time and counting down to the last game at the end of April against Thamesmead, away.” see More
Whitstable manager Marc Seager said after his young side went four points clear at the top of the Kent League after beating Thamesmead at the Belmont 2-0. “A lot of people have been getting a bit carried away with the great start we have had to the season, some saying we have the league within our grasp when we have only played half a season, others that we have not played any decent sides yet so we have proved nothing. Today against Thamesmead was a big game for us and to play the side everyone has as one of the title contenders, beat them two nil and apart from one effort in the first half they have not had a shot on goal. Well that will do me for now.” He said: “Look; the next game against Lordswood that’s the one that uppermost in my when mind we shall be training as usual Wednesday night. Simon, Mark and myself will be working with one thing one in mind and that’s preparing for next Saturday and letting others worry about us, we shall just keep trying to stay tight at the back and concentrate on playing good, attacking passing football.” Goals from Steve Marshall, who looks to be out for a couple of weeks with a groin strain and Stuart King secured Town’s victory in front of 265 supporters.
