Whitstable go top of Kent League… But Seager not happy PDF Print E-mail

Picture: two goals from Stuart King: Greenwich Borough 2 v Whitstable Town 2:  “It was the worst defensive performance in the 15 months since I have been in charge,” Whitstable manager Marc Seager told the Press after the game, which was played in high winds which greatly  effected the game as a foot-balling spectacle against Greenwich Borough. The single point enough to take Whitstable above Thamesmead in the league who they play next at the Belmont on Saturday.

“I told the players after the game that some of their defending was woeful, I realise that the conditions were not good to play in and the atrocious wind made things a bit of a Lottery but that aside we just did not defend. We went five at the back after they went four up-front when we scored the second goal when he score was 2-1. They just did not listen to what I asked them to do. Normally I am very protective of the lads but tonight they felt just how angry I was at the final whistle, I am still fuming an hour after the game.”

Greenwich took the lead as the first half came to and end, going in one-nil up with a wind assisted punt from the their keeper was flicked on past Town’s Kevin Fewell. Town pulled one back with a Stuart King penalty after Steve Marshall had been up-ended in the box. Town made it 2-1 after King’s corner was missed by all the defenders and went straight in at the near post, although it with a touch of own goal about it. Then Greenwich threw everyone forward winning a ball to hand penalty, which levelled the score with about four minute to play. Honours even; which on this performance in such windy conditions was about right. WTFC (c) 2007
