After morning pitch inspections at the Belmont and VCD game at Oakwood is OFF. Both the 1st team and reserves matches are off Sat 2nd Dec. With heavy overnight rain still falling in the morning both home and away fixtures have been called off.
Speaking after Whitstable went through into the next round of the Kent Senior Trophy against Greenwich Borough at the Belmont, Whitstable Town captain Marcos Perona said. “In a way its difficult going in at half time 3-0 ahead, then trying to pick up the same tempo at the restart, unfortunately it never happened. Fair play to them they never gave up and tried to make a game of it right to the end and as the game went on the pitch got a bit heavier, which made for an interesting last 15 minutes but we never looked like losing the game at any time.” You must have been pleased with the movement up-front; some of the interlink play between midfield and the strikers was breath-taking. All our first half goals were all quality, Josh (Maine) scored with a great header after Marlon’s (Button) superb cross. Then Sam (Prett), his left foot curler never gave the keeper a chance and Jake’s (Gess) goal was quality as well, great build up play to all the goals. We showed some great movement from front to back; Steve Marshall had a good goal disallowed and how my shot just went over I don’t know. Plus we had other chances, their keeper made a fantastic save from Steve minutes before Josh scored our first goal. No exaggeration to say we could have been six or seven ahead in the first 45 minutes, but we need to be on our toes this weekend as the VCD game is massive for us, especially after they dropped points last Saturday, the pressure is on them now.” |
