is with great regret that I have to announce the departure of Stuart
Harrison from the Belmont. After giving Lordswood permission to speak to the
Stuart last night, he today informed me, after sleeping on it overnight, that
he wished to leave Whitstable Town and accept Lordswood’s offer. Unfortunately
for Stuart he has found it difficult to break into the 1st team this
season at the Belmont and I fully accept that at this stage of his career that
he wants to be playing regular 1st team football, something that I
am unable to offer Stuart at this moment in time. The fact that we’ve had such
a great start to the season and the high standards set by other players has
made it very difficult for me to make too many changes and some players have
become victims of the teams great start to the season. I
have always been fully aware that with having such a big strong squad such has
the one that we’ve got at the Belmont this season it was always going to be an
impossible task for me to keep everyone happy and I fully accept that some
players may see their futures away from the Belmont, but as a manager it’s
never nice to see a player leave especially when they’re a friend too and this
is the downside of management for me. I
have known Stuart for many years and feel privileged not only to have played
alongside him but also to have managed such a class player. He really is one of
the most skilful players that I have had the pleasure to have played with or
against throughout my career, and want to take this opportunity to publicly
thank ‘Harry’ for all his time, efforts and many good times that he has given
Whitstable Town over the past 3 years and his all round professionalism is a
great example to others. |
