PREMIER
DIVISION REVIEW from the Kent League on-line
A "status quo" was
seen in the Kent Football League Premier Division as the top three all won and,
at the foot of the table, the bottom three were all defeated. Whitstable Town,
the League leaders, made seven out of seven as they beat Erith & Belvedere,
one of the pre-season favourites, at the Belmont by four goals to two. The
'Oystermen' took the lead just before the break through Jackson Ohakam, Matt
Johnson then levelled before Andy Constable scored a brace, Lee Morgan then
reduced the arrears before Steve Marshal added Whitstable's fourth. At Greatness
Park, Curtis Williams scored the only goal in the second period as Thamesmead
Town defeated Sevenoaks Town to remain in second place. The same score line was
seen at the Erith Town as they lost to third placed Faversham Town, Wes Hammond
was the man on target in the first half. VCD Athletic moved up to fourth with a
3-0 win at Sporting Bengal Utd with goals from Juan Ramirez, Darren Thomson and
Mark Greatorex. Greenwich Borough continued their good form as they went sixth
with a two nil win at Deal Town, Meshach Nugent and Nick Koutsoudis were the
scorers. In the mid-table match, Croydon and Hythe Town fought out a goalless
draw whilst Beckenham Town gained their first draw of the campaign when they
Slade Green at the Glen. Paul O'Donaghue scored for the 'Becks' before John-Paul
McKey levelled in the second period. The bottom side, Tunbridge Wells remain
winless after their match at Lordswood saw them lose by the odd goal in three
despite taking the lead through Alex Rich. Dave Forster then secured the points
for the 'Lords' with a brace, the second a minute from time.
