Marc Seager Seager so proud of his young side. ?To be sitting on top of the league unbeaten after four
games is superb for the club and the players,? Marc Seager said, ?I said to the
chairman, it?s not a sprint we are in this for the long haul and told the club
when they offered me the chance as manager I would do my utmost to make
Whitstable Town the most professional club in Kent football. We always set out
to do things the right way, the lads have been coached by the clubs junior set
up with good habits and all the players are aware of what I expect from them.
We have enjoyed a great start to the season but never really hit top gear; I
suppose the closest we came was away at Erith when we scored four but it could
have been a hatful. Last season were scoring loads of goals but letting them in
at the other end, which cost us a shot at promotion. This year so far in seven
games; cup and league we have let in one! As you can see our defence has
tightened up and we are on a role.? Seager added a note of caution: ?we have
two tough games inside the next seven days, Croydon Athletic on Saturday at the
Belmont in the FA Cup. They are a very good side and we will need to be at our
best to beat them, but they will not enjoy coming to us knowing our form. We
will not take them lightly and neither will we Deal whom we play Tuesday
evening also at the Belmont, they are sure to give us a good game. I would say
that I?m quietly confident we can get the results am looking for, we will show
our opponents we are good host, but no pushovers. Both matches should be great
to watch, although Croydon do not have much of a travelling away support so we
are hoping the Oysterboys, as our supporters like to be known can play their
part in both the cup and the league games.?
