REVIEW from the Kent League website:
Whitstable Town are the only Kent Football
League side through to the First Qualifying Round of the F. A. Cup after their
one nil victory away to Bedfont of the Combined Counties League. Jake Gess
settled the Preliminary Round match with twenty minutes to go and a home
fixture against Croydon Athletic on September 16th. Elsewhere, Slade Green live
to fight another day as they drew two apiece with Cobham at The Glen, the
replay is on Tuesday evening with a home tie against Slough Town awaiting the
winners. Thamesmead Town, previously unbeaten, went down three one to
Sittingbourne at Central Park and the same score line was seen at Greatness
Park as Sevenoaks Town went out to Moneyfields. Hythe Town also lost three one,
only after extra time, to VT despite the fastest goal of the day from Roy
Godden in the first minute. Erith & Belvedere fought well against Didcot
Town but lost by the odd goal in three whilst Tunbridge Wells were well beaten
at home to Dartford in front of the days best attendance, they lost by five
goals to nil. In the Premier Division, Faversham Town are the League leaders
after their win at Beckenham Town by the odd goal in three. Ashley Carew put
the home side in front before Jason Mills levelled sixty seconds later, Kris
Parker scored Faversham's winner ten minutes from time. In the Premier Division
Cup, the opening matches saw wins for Lordswood at home to Herne Bay and
Croydon secured thier first Kent Football League victory when they beat
Sporting Benagl United.
