Marc my words?. Whitstable Town manager Marc Saeager speaking after the 0-1 victory in the FA Cup away at Gulidford "Shane Davis had a great game at left back,? said WTFC manager Marc Seager, ?As did Josh Maine, he adds that bit of bite to the side which is so important when you come up against sides that we know little about, he stops them playing and is learning with every game. Young ?Kingy? (Stuart King) worked hard and took his goal well; Jake Gess did well when he came on, as did Sam Prett until Steve Marshall replaced him.
I like the players and the supporters want to play attractive football but on some pitches it?s not always possible and I asked the boys to play a different way today. We had to play a style of football that is not for the purist; on a pitch that looked good from the stands but believe me it was awful to play on. The pitch has been used throughout the summer for athletics and three weeks ago they were throwing the discus and shot putting where we played football, hardly the sort of surface we are used to at the Belmont. That said, they were terrific host, and both sides tried to play football, and although it was not a spectacle we are in the next round of the F.A. Cup and I am very pleased. We wanted a result today and the lads delivered, I am very pleased that we never conceded, just look at the list of results in the papers tomorrow, you won?t see many clean sheets in the F.A. Cup you mark my words.? WTFC 2006 (c) |
