Latest news on promotions.... - 2006/02/28 22:12
Update on promotions to step 4, with thanks to Darren Lovell. Another
week, another table! The number of eligible clubs in promotion
positions drops from 34 to 33 this week. We have one first time entrant
in Cammell Laird (25th) this week. Also, for the first time we
have news of clubs that have withdrawn their applications for
consideration for promotion. Both Leiston and Diss Town in the Eastern
Counties have withdrawn, meaning that only 5 clubs are now effectively
vying for promotion from that league. In the Northern League,
Durham City have too withdrawn their application, meaning that there is
now know representation from this particular league in the promotion
race. Durham have only 5 league games remaining but are in only 7th
place in the table. A better than halfway finish would now seem
unlikely for them. And then there were 97!
Changes by
league include Bury Town replacing Needham Market in the table in the
Eastern Counties League. Chertsey Town replace Flackwell Heath in the
top 3 of the Isthmian 2nd Division, whilst in the Kent League,
Thamesmead Town replace Erith & Belvedere and just scrape the 30th
(and last) place in our table.
North Leigh slip out of the
reckoning this week by dint of their 4th place in the Hellenic League,
meanwhile Stourbridge replace Chasetown in the Midland Alliance race.
In the Northern Counties East Liversedge and Sheffield swap positions
meaning that Sheffield drop to 31st place and out of the reckoning. The
final changes are in the NW Counties League. Skelmersdale United
replace Alsager Town in top place whilst Cammell Laird knock Salford
City down to 4th and off of our list.
