Popular Whitstable keeper Gary Arterton has joined Slade Green, whilst Wayne Barrett, who is a central midfielder, has travelled in the opposite direction to join Town:

Whitstable manager Marc Seager said; “I felt we were unable to offer Gary a regular first team place, and informed him straight away.  I knew that he would find another club quickly and we wish him well in the future and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the football club. Gary is a good keeper as well as a nice guy but with Mark Brown now at the club, we have Laney as cover, it was obvious we could not carry two keepers and I needed to make Gary aware of that. Mark is determined to hold onto the jersey at Whitstable for the foreseeable future, in the past keepers such as Lee Hook, Colin Hudson have all gone onto play at a higher level. Indeed; I am told in the past there has been a long tradition at Whitstable, with the likes of Brian Gamble who played league level and other such as Bonny Archer and I hope that Mark can progress to play at a higher league with Whitstable. I would like to welcome Wayne, along with the other recent signings Paul Colenutt, and Michael Adcock to the club  ”
