ImageMark Wyver's Kent Football: The counties sides started the new year with plent of goals on January 2nd.In the Nationwide Conference two goals in the last four minuites from Ross Smith and Bradley Johnson earnt Gravesend & Northfleet a 2-1 win at Dagenham & Redbridge to avenge their defeat on boxing day.
 
The kent derby in the Ryman Premier Division ended in a 1-0 win for Folkestone over Bromley at Cheriton Road while a Charlie Taylor goal was mere consolation as Margate slumped to a 3-1 defeat at bottom club Redbridge.There were goals galore in the Ryman First Division with the biggest surprise coming at Homelands where Ashford beat Dover 3-2 the visitors being 3-0 down at one stage but despite a Craig Wilkins double it was the lowly home side who ended with the three points.

At Southwood a 3-3 draw was the outcome of the kent derby between Ramsgate and Tonbridge with Shaun Welford(pen),Stuart Vahid and Lee Minshull scoring for the Rams and Nick Barnes(pen),Jay May and Ray Powell for the Angels.Cray also drew 3-3 at home to Tooting & Mitcham with Gary Abbott(pen),Drew Watkins and John Main netting for the Wands.

The local derby in the Dr Martens Eastern Division ended goalless between Dartford and Sittingbourne while Chatham returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win at home to Aveley.
A surprise result at Bourne Park in the Kent League saw Maidstone miss out on goung to the top of the table after a Mike Cunningham goal gave Lordswood a 1-0 win.Thamesmead gained revenge on Erith & Belvedere with a 2-1 win at Park View Road with Curtis Williams and Rikki Cable scoring for the victors with Chris Dickson replying for the home side.A last minuite goal from Paul Stevens saw Deal overcome Hythe 2-1 with the losers taking the lead through Richard Sinden only for John Utterson to equalise for Deal.A lone James Brown goal saw VCD overcome Greenwich Borough while Dave Hassett and Joe Fuller netted for Tunbridge Wells in their 2-0 home win over Sevenoaks.
