A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Whitstable Town Football Club:

Marc Seager has asked me to pass on his seasons greeting to you all from himself, his backroom staff and all the players, he particularly asked that his thanks be passed onto the supporters, who he says are have been outstanding since he took over, ?like playing every game with an extra man? is how he put it. Off the pitch the committee and all involved with the running of the club send their good wishes to all involved with WTFC, we have made great strides in our continual improvements at ?The Belmont? but there is still much to do. The club?s aim is to have the best facilities, support a side that play the most attractive football and progress the football club at every level to ensure we can offer the best football to the people of Whitstable.

ImagePicture: Chairman Tony Rouse with Joe Brownett of D&J Tyres WTFC main sponsor: Marc has made a new signing bringing Gary Ward to the club, Gary who plays centre midfield has joined us from Cray, he was with VCD last season and Marc says he is a real quality player who will insure that the challenge for places is maintained in all area?s of the pitch. ?The last thing I want is complacency? he said; ?players like to have a challenge and the competition for places is no bad thing, as a player it keeps you on your toe?s when you look over your shoulder and you see that you are keeping not one, but sometimes two quality players on the bench. But, and this is the important part they all know they will get their chance, it?s up to each and every one of them to hang onto the shirt once they have it.

  On the injury front, I am delighted we have Shane Davies and Ryan Davis both back in training which after such a long break, for two very influential players at the club this is great news. Mark Brown is recovering well after his hand injury; Sam Friskey is also on his way back to fitness, not forgetting Terry Ratchford who played a major part in the success of the reserves side this season is making very good progress in his battle to regain full fitness and ultimately take his place in the first team. Keeper Sam Mott is back with us again after his spell back with Gravesend & Northfleet, Kevin Fewell is still with us and I am delighted with the way they have both been embraced by their follow players and supporters alike.?

Whilst it is good look back at on all the good things that have happened at the club these last few season?s we must focus on the future of the club, looking forward to the remainder of this season. After a clerical mix-up at the FA we received confirmation that WTFC has been accepted as one of the clubs whose application for promotion from Step 5 to Step 4 has been accepted. We did actually apply in June; somehow the application was put to one side when the list of clubs was published; but rest assured we have been accepted. We now need to concentrate fully on the job in hand which is to make sure that we do our bit off the pitch and leave Marc and his staff to get on with events on it, but as Marc says. ?The most important game is the next one.? Come on you reds?.

ImageI,like everyone involved with WTFC would like to thank you for your support over the last year, we had the club?s best ever finish in the league last season, third after a great run towards the end of the season. Whilst looking back, we  should not forget the part that former manager Matt Toms played in the progression of the club, as did John Roseman and Jason Bragg during their time in charge, When we look at the improvements on the pitch we should not forget Simon Kay who also had his time in charge, he is now laying the foundations of a successful reserves side; aided by Peter Budge, Colin Budge, and Lee Andrews and Peter Blackmore and all who were also involved with the U18?s side who were so successful. This goes for all the managers at every level within the club, our grateful thanks to them all for the way they have guided lads through the club structure.
