Group B Cup Picture: Andy Martin scored Towns third goal:In an interesting first half with plenty of good football
played by both side, neither side managed to find the back of the net.
Whitstable keeper Mark Hickson was largely untroubled in the first 45 minutes,
whilst the visiting keeper made a couple of good saves, one from Sam Prett,
another from Andy Constable. Town?s midfield duo of Marcos Perona and Alex
Hossick took control of the game, Hossick unlucky in the opening minutes not to
hit the target after some great approach play from Whitstable.

Things certainly warmed up after
the break, Whitstable going ahead in the 50th minute through Alex
Hossick after good work by Andy Martin, on in place of Prett. Martin, making up
a great deal of ground to be first to a long ball from Town?s defence, his pass
into the stride of Hossick was top draw. At 1-0 nil up Town pressed for the
second, it came in the 70h minute and you sensed there was more to come.
Hossick was again involved in goal number two, scored by Aaron Knight, Hossick
set Constable free, the inform striker turning provider to Knight who coolly lobbing
the on-rushing keeper with defenders closing in. At 2-0 down the visitors
enjoyed their best spell of the game, Daor hitting the crossbar and bringing a
superb save from Hickson that received warm applause from around the ground. In
the 70th minute Andy Martin scored Towns third, Stuart Harrison?s
fierce shot was going wide of goal, quick thinking Martin deflected it past the
keeper. Town worthy 3-0 winners, now sit firmly on top of their group.
