Club Statement

Whitstable Town Football Club are delighted to announce that the clubs main sponsor will be D&J Tyres for the remainder of the 2005/06 season. Chairman Tony Rouse breaking the news: ?It is great news that Joe Brownett and his family through their company D&J Tyres are renewing their support of Whitstable Town. We have been very lucky to have their support over the many years the family have been associated with the club and Joe has agreed to carry on helping the club after the sudden departure of Victor Gladwish?s company, who are to cease their funding of football at any level?

This came about after what Gladwish said was: ?The unacceptable way I was treated by a club last weekend.? His decision leaves many other football clubs without a sponsor and is in no way a reflection on the relationship between Gladwish and Whitstable Town, which has always been cordial and business like. Indeed Victor?s brother Paul, who is a valued member of the committee stays at the club.

Rouse added: ?I was prepared to step down as chairman as my appointment was with the backing of Gladwish and his sponsorship, but after speaking to Joe, (Brownett) he asked that I stay as chairman and together we continue the good working relationship we have always enjoyed to move Whitstable Town forward.

I am delighted that little will change at the club, Joe has agreed to become Vice Chairman, Paul has agreed to step down at the next committee meeting.?

Bar Manager:

The club has appointed Peter Blackmore as the club?s Bar Manager, Peter will be aiming to promote more use of the clubhouse, running functions in the bar as the club continue to update the facilities. With the backing of D&J Tyres for the remainder of the season we can continue to plan for the future of the football club.
