ImageDraw enough for ?Top Town?  Lordswood 3 Whitstable Town 3:  Kent Cup
Picture Aaron Knight scorer of two goals for Town: Whitstable maintained their position as
Group B leader in the KOF League Cup, goals from Sam Prett and two from Aaron Knight keeping Town one point ahead of Lordswood at the group stage.
Whilst Whitstable started the brighter they found themselves 1-0 down after 10 minutes, Lordswood?s Cormack volleyed in from 25 yards, after Town failed to clear the ball in the home sides first attack, his shot giving Sam Mott in goal no chance. Town responded, Prett going close on two occasions, home side keeper Gary Hopper saving well from a Marc Seager free kick after Andy Constable was fouled just outside the area.
Town went further behind with a disputed goal, clearly offside as Doerr lobbed the ball over Mott, Doerr saying to
Whitstable coach Simon Halsey as they left the pitch at the interval ?I was lucky there, I was four or five yards off?

ImagePicture Sam Prett scored Town's fist goal with a great strike: Town rallied from the disappointment, Alex Hossick bring a fantastic save from Gary Hopper in a carbon copy strike of the home sides first goal. With five minutes to go to half time Sam Prett scored a peach, his dummy one way then the other owed much to the intelligent run made by Darren Budge, Prett?s turn and shot in one movement was first class to leaving the score 2-1 to the home side at the interval.

At the restart Whitstable continued to press, the home side always a threat with Doerr and Cormack, driven on by their skipper Coyler always looked a danger. Town?s Andy Martin replaced Prett In the 65th minute as Town maintained their pressure, Darren Budge whipped in a long ball, and Constable demanded a good save from Hopper, Knight on hand to stab the ball into the net.

Town went 3-2 ahead after a great interception by Whitstable skipper Gary Sayer set up Constable way over on the left; his quick breakaway and direct low cross into the stride of Knight was a great delivery, Knight making sure with a neat side footed goal. Both sides had chances, Mott pulling off a great save to deney a Cormack header from a corner, at the other end Hopper saved from Constable.

Sam Rigden replaced Budge with just over ten minutes remaining, putting in a couple of good crosses before the home side scored the equalizer with about five minutes remaining. Town should have been alert to the danger ex Town player Andy Skinner can do with his long throws, they were caught flat, Town?s player manager Marc Seager unlucky to head the ball past his own keeper Mott, under pressure from Doerr.
