THE WEEK AHEAD - 6th December The Reds travel to Greenwich Borough, a 'lucky ground' so far this season having beaten VCD 1-3 in the league (groundshare) and Greenwich Borough 0-2 in the Premier Division Cup. Never a comfortable place to play at, its surprising that Boro' only have a win and a draw so far this campaign and find themselves one up from the league basement only on goal difference. The bottom club, Sevenoaks Town, host third place Erith & Belvedere. This could be the shock result of the day, as the Deres have the poorest scoring rate in the top six sides having only put away 19 goals in seven wins and three draws this year. However, a draw would be sufficient to keep them ahead of the Oystermen should they pick up a win at Harrow Meadow. Beckenham Town will still be smarting over last weekend's 90th minute turn over by Maidstone. The league leaders, now level on points after being deducted 3 by the league, play away from home and will be hoping Tunbridge Wells will succumb on Saturday afternoon as they have done in three of their five home games thus far. Lordswood travel to the Mile End Road to play Sporting Bengal. I have absolutely no idea how to predict the outcome of this one, Sporting can win, lose or draw depending on how they feel on the day or what they had for lunch! The form book doesn't seem to mean anything in Bengali football and so what many consider the whipping boys of the league can prove extremely dangerous opponents on the day. In an even trickier match Herne Bay travel to Slade Green and have a good chance of coming away empty handed. Just in the bottom half (9th on 16pts.) Green are unbeaten in their last four home fixtures and will realise that they need the three points to remain in close contact with the chasing pack. Thamesmead Town are the only upper table team with home advantage against 14th placed Erith Town, however, being a local derby does mean that the outcome of this match cannot be a forgone conclusion. The other four KL sides are involved in FA Vase action, VCD travel to Arundel, Deal Town entertain Tavistock Town, Hythe Town host Chalfont St. Peter and Maidstone find themselves drawn 'at home' against Broxbourne Borough V & E. Good luck to all, carrying the torch for Kent football. Also on Saturday the Whitstable Town Reserves will be playing at the Belmont in a top of Division 1 clash. The Ressies currently have a three point advantage over Mead and a superior goal difference. Should be a hard fought game and definitely worth a look if you can't get to the first team match. SIX MORE POINTS? This Wednesday night (7th Dec.) Whitstable Town play the first of a double fixture at Lordswood in the League Cup group 'B'. Neither side is yet assured of a berth in the quarter finals. Whitstable currently top the table by a point and need six more to be assured of a place in the quarter finals draw, Lordswood, in second have a game in hand and need seven more. The two sides meet for their second match at the Belmont Road Ground next Tuesday night, the 13th December. This coming Saturday should provide plenty of goals in the KOFL Premiership as six of the top seven teams play against six from the bottom half of the current league table.
