Seeing double?.. Fixtures can often raise an eyebrow or two, none more so than this weeks double billing against Greenwich Borough in group 'B' of the KOF Premier League Cup. Greenwich play Whitstable Town tonight (Tuesday 15th), for the first time this season, at the Belmont Road ground, kick off 7.45pm and then the two sides meet again in the same competition at Harrow Meadow on Saturday afternoon (19th). This is a rearranged fixture due to our scheduled opponents being active in the FA Vase. A tough couple of games in prospect then, last year in the league the sides won one each, strangely the away side winning in both cases.Whitstable Town reserves play away on Saturday 19th at eighth place Bromley. Thamesmead reserves 3-1 victory at Erith on Monday night lifts them to second place just three points behind the divisional leaders. Note the kick off is at 2.15pm. Elsewhere, in the league cup tonight, Tuesday 15th, in group 'D' Beckenham Town play host to Sevenoaks and Thamesmead Town entertain Slade Green. There is also a KOFL premier league fixture as 4th place Erith & Belvedere host an indifferent Tunbridge Wells side. E&B have won their last three homes while the Wells have lost their last three away.An important fixture with implications for the Reds in group 'B' is on Wednesday evening when Erith Town travel down the A2 to meet second in the group Lordswood. FA Vase action for some on Saturday as VCD visit Colliers Wood, Herne Bay travel to the holders Didcot Town, Deal Town play at Mile Oak and Erith Town take a trip to Sidley United. Hythe Town, Maidstone United and Thamesmead Town all play at home against Thatcham Town, Andover and Brook House respectively. In the Kent Premier Lordswood will play Tunbridge Wells with a view to going above Whitstable, Deal and Herne Bay with a victory at Lordswood and Sevenoaks look for their first league win against Sporting Bengal at Sevenoaks. That just about wraps it up for this week, just a reminder for the following Tuesday November 22nd. Why not come down to the Belmont and watch Sittingbourne Reserves play Whitstable's future prospects in the Floodlight Trophy. K.O. 7.45pm. Come on you Reds! Peter Albin, 15 Nov. 2005 |
