THE ACID TEST.
Tuesday's KOFL Premier match against Lordswood is the last game in the league for Whitstable Town until December. So begins the acid test of the new Premier Division Cup format with a home draw against Erith Town on next Saturday the 12th November. In a revised competition (there are group stages this season for the first time) the top two teams of each group of four go through to the quarter final draw. Greenwich Borough and Lordswood, the other teams in Town's group 'B', play at Harrow Meadow. The Reds next two games in the competition are both against Greenwich, next Tuesday evening at The Belmont, that's the 15th (kick off at 7.45pm) and Saturday week, 19th November away from home.

The 1st division leaders Whitstable Reserves have a challenging fixture on Saturday 19th, away from home at Bromley. Bromley won last time out for the first time in five games having drawn the previous three. The Ressies have won their last three away fixtures and are on a roll

The other Saturday matches in the Premier League Cup are?

Group A

Erith & Belvedere v Hythe, first time these two have met this season, currently 4th and 12th in the KOFL Premier.

Sporting Bengal United v Herne Bay, a 2-2 draw in the equivalent league fixture and Sporting will be busting to bounce back from Saturday's league defeat, could be a surprise result!

Group C

Deal Town v Maidstone United, a five one victory for the Stones in the coresponding league fixture with Deal's biggest gate so far this year of 308.

Tunbridge Wells v VCD, Wells will be seeking to atone for their three nil hiding at Harrow Meadow in the league.

Group D

Sevenoaks Town v Thamesmead Town, Sevenoaks will be hoping for a reversal of fortune in the cup. Home advantage may help them as they only conceded 2 against Mead away in the Premier.

Slade Green v Beckenham Town, similarly home advantage may address the two goals given away in their league meeting at the league leaders.

More games in a season? Can't be bad. Maybe the group stage could have been regionalised? Not sure. Let the jury wait for the midweek attendance figures before we pass judgement on the new format.
