ImageFA do not represent the teams!
It is with dismay that I read in the NLP today that the FA are not having a Midland League at STEP 4 after all the work and effort put in by clubs and sponsors alike last season to get a new Midland League. The FA are there to represent the football league teams that subscribe to the FA. The Midlands deserve a league and (and indeed have leagues just as old as The Isthmian league) we all wanted a 1-2-4-8-16 system and that would regionalise things the best making less travelling and more local derby?s.

To change the structure to have two Isthmian leagues is silly and why do we do it? The Isthmian league is rubbish, how many clubs have made it to the Football League from there?  The Hellenic talking against a new Midland League is also ridiculous. In reality we have a bunch of old men (or young men with old brains) who do not want to see their leagues reduced in teams and want to let the Isthmian get away with expanding their league instead of division 2 disappearing. It?s the old boys thing. We wanted at least a 1-2-3-6-12 system that means that the formation of two new (Midland) leagues at step 4 and reduction of Step 5 by 3 leagues to simplify promotion and relegation and it would also mean that approx 3 clubs from each of the Step 5 leagues will be promoted this season. I have spent a million pounds on sponsorships in the last 3 years and there must be a return and that return comes from local derbys and bigger gates and all I can see is the reverse happening. I think if the FA cannot back the pyramid system properly then sponsors like me will disappear.
