Seager: on the Floodlight Cup: Herne Bay 1 Whitstable Town 1 ?It?s quite simple really, as the manager involved with the first team I do not have the opportunity to see as much of all players at the club as I would like. That?s why I wanted the club to be involved in this midweek competition; it gives me the perfect opportunity to see first hand players who normally I only get to see at training. Simon and Peter took the game, as they would normally do, they speak to me regularly about their players and I trust their judgement. If they say a player is ready to step up from the reserves then I respect what they say, but there is no substitute for seeing the lads play 90 minute myself. Tonight we had a totally scratch side out, and I do not mean
to be disrespectful to any of the players in the side tonight, it?s a fact.
These players had not played together before and I thought they all acquitted
themselves very well; there were some very positive things I learnt tonight.
I would just this was not Whitstable
Town Reserve side, it was a mixture of players battling back from injury, in
fact for three of the lads tonight this was their first competitive game since
pre-season, we had a few U18?s players, a couple of first team players also on
their way back through injury, but you could see by the competitive nature of
the game it was worthwhile entering the competition as its played in a positive
manner by all the players.? WTFC (c)
