DEADLY MARTIN DESTROYS DEAL WITH 4

Deal Town Reserves 0  Whitstable Town Reserves 4 Kent League ? Division 1
Andy Martin scored a quite marvellous hat trick inside the first 30 minutes to kill the game and Deal Town off in no time. Martin was not finished there though as early in the second half he scored his fourth goal of the afternoon to make his season total 10 goals in 9 games.
Whitstable Town Reserves were simply awesome in the first half and every single player put in a performance that couldn?t be faulted. Manager Simon Kay pointed out before the game that last weeks first half performance just wasn?t acceptable and singled Deal Town out to be the toughest game they would face because of the vast experience that they had in the side with Gear, Miller and Bosson amongst there ranks, all previous Whitstable Town first team players.

How Kay must have been pleased with the response he got from his side as they pressed and harried every Deal player into mistakes and they just couldn?t live with Town. Nick Smith returning in midfield gave Town a better shape as Alex Hossick and Jake Gess were able to express themselves further up the field. Jake Gess controlled everything Town did going forward. Martin notched his first after he smashed home a loose ball then it was Gess who shone as he set up Martin twice to complete his hat-trick. First Gess directed his header back across goal and Martin pounced again then Gess played a super defence splitting pass for Martin to run onto and he coolly rounded the keeper to slot into an empty net. Another top performer was Josh Maine who was reverted to right back and he made some surging runs which created plenty of chances for Town.

Second half Town were never going to play another 45 like they just had but they went out a gave a battling and resolute performance to add 1 more goal and make sure young keeper Robert French kept his first clean sheet at senior level. The fourth goal came early when Darren Budge swung over a corner which Martin brought down with one touch before firing low and hard into the net. Game over for Deal, they were well beaten by a Town side which put in their best performance of the season. Town then shut up shop and Maine, Baker, Ratchford and Duffy held firm and Deal never really created anything clear cut to bother French in the Town goal.

The win sees Town move four points clear at the top, the win made it 6 wins in there last 6 league games and means they are now 7 games unbeaten and on a real roll going into next Saturday?s big game at the Belmont against Erith Town who have played 4 and won all four so Town will be all out to stop the Erith charge and cement there position as league leaders.
