High flying
Kingstonian, unbeaten in the league this season were brought down to earth with
a bump after Whitstable beat them 3-2 in The F.A. Trophy.A goal from Dan Whisker in the seventh
minute put the home side on the back foot as Town threatened to extend their
lead; Jake Gess shooting just wide before the home side turned on the style
with two goals before the break, which could have been more but for some stout
defending by Marc Seager’s side. Trailing two goals to one at the interval Whitstable looked to
be out of it but they stunned the home side supporters into silence with two quick goals just after the restart. The first a quality lob over the ‘K’ keeper by Ian Pullman to draw the side level at two apiece in the forty seventh miniute. The
second five minutes later, and eventual match winner Gess following up on a Jack Tanner penalty
after Pullman had been hauled over inside the area, the ‘K’ keeper saving well
but Gess was first to the ball. Town hung on for the remaining thirty minutes
with every player called upon to defend as the home side swept forward but
Whitstable held firm to progress into the next round at home to Brackley Town on Saturday the 18th of October at the
