Whitstable Town 0 Dover 4: Whitstable lost their unbeaten record losing 4-0 to Dover after putting in a poor performance on Sunday.

From the very first whistle Dover dominated all over the field, with Whitstable failing to deliver even the basic requirements on a football pitch.

With Dover attacking at every opportunity it was no surprise when they took the lead. The ball was played in from the left wing into the penalty box which was not cleared and the Dover striker easily converted from 10 yards. Dover increased their lead shortly before half time when from a corner the ball was not cleared again, this resulted in a Dover player being allowed a free header which just about dipped under the bar.

The same pattern of play followed in the second half with Dover again dominating the game and giving the Whitstable team the run around. They would have increased their lead even further but for a fine save by Atkinson in the Whitstable goal. However Dover were not to be denied and added their third goal shortly after, when the ball sneaked into the goal at the far post and added a fourth when a Dover player headed the ball into the goal unchallenged from a corner.

Shortly after Whitstable managed their only shot in the game when Hancock’s thirty yard shot hit the crossbar.

This was a very disappointing display from the boys, who will need to pick themselves up for next week’s cup match away to Maidstone.
