Whitstable Town 0 Burgess Hill Town 4: The home side were a goal down inside the first two minutes,
Steve Harper scoring for the visitors directly from a free kick just outside
the area.
They could have been three more goals to the good within the first
thirty minutes, each time denied by the thickness of the paint on
Whitstable’s goal posts. They did extend their lead three minutes before half
time, Harper converting from the spot, Whitstable Paul Ainswoth harshly
adjudged to have fouled inside the area.
Within five minutes of the re-start Whitstable
were three goals down; Ben Johnson’s rifled cross-cum shot just evading Kevin
Fewell in Town’s goal. In the 80th
minute the visitors influential Danny Cranford was shown a straight red for
pulling back Dave Corey in a rare Whitstable attack, just before the visors
scored their fourth, Harper completing his hat trick with just minutes left,
running across Town’s back line before shooting past Fewell. The home sides day
made worst, Liam Quinn stretchered off after falling badly on his ankle, minutes
before the fourth goal. Full Match Report to follow:
