Whitstable town 1 Margate 1 pre-season friendly PDF Print E-mail
Both managers left the Belmont happy with their team’s performance and a share of the honours. After a goal less first half and wholesale changes by both sides at the interval Margate went ahead midway through the second half,

Danny Stubs who spent part of last season on loan at Whitstable scored a cracker of a goal. for the visitors. Dan Whisker netted for the home side late on in what a times was a very competitive friendly, played at a good pace with some good football played by both teams. Whitstable should have been ahead in the fist half, Ian Pullman missed a penalty in the 38th minute his low shot well saved by the keeper....More to follow:

Whitstable Town welcomed Ryman Premier Division side Margate to Belmont Road on Tuesday night for their second Pre Season friendly of the 2008/9 campaign.

Marc Seager again used his full squad against their Thanet opponents who they last met in an FA Cup tie during the 2006/7 season which THe Gate won 2-1.

A very physical game saw both sides showing their commitment with Seager and new Margate Manager Barry Ashby looking to finalise their squads before the big August 16th Kick Off.

Newly signed Jack Tanner caught the eye for the home side with his workrate and willingness to fight for the cause while Gary Sayer showed his usual aggression at Full Back.

Chances were at a premium during the first half and it wasen't until the last kick of the game that Town had the chance to take the lead. However Ian Pulman's penalty was palmed away by Pat Mullin in the visitors goal.

After wholesale changes at the interval it was Margate who drew first blood when Dan Stubbs who had a loan spell at The Belmont from previous club Ebbsfleet fired a superb shot pust Jack Chapman in the home goal.

The Oystermen kept up their unbeaten Pre Season going however when former Margate man Dan Wisker forced the ball over the line after a corner hadn't been properly cleared.
