Seager calls it training…The sight of Whitstable Town players running up and down an estimated 249 steep steps five times as part of their fitness training ahead of the new season was proof enough of the tough regime manager Marc Seager has put his players through  in preparation for their second season in the Ryman League. “Football is played in the head as much as the feet, but I believe it’s a vital part of our preparation that we still have plenty of running left in the last quarter of the games. Last season, and particularly the season before the amount of games we won in the last fifteen minutes of the match was down to two things, the desire to win and our level of fitness. Although these sessions hurt; the players will feel the benefits in the months to come, we have players at the club who are five to ten pound lighter than they have ever been, both Simon and I work the players hard, but the results will show throughout the season.”
