Picture Per Laleng: A happy Marc Seager: match report by Mark Wyver: Whitstable Town made sure they will be playing Ryman Division One South football next season after winnning 3-2 at Kent rivals Sittingbourne on Tuesday night.
Manager Marc Seager again opted to keep an unchanged side for the fourth game in a row as they looked to avenge a Boxing day 2-0 defeat at Belmont Road.

The first chance of the game to Sittingbourne's new signing Ryan Johnson from Slade Green who tested former Bourne keeper Kevin Fewell after five minutes. Town responded quickly with Ian Pulman pulling his effort wide of the far post after a break down the right.

The opening goal arrived after fifteen minutes when another former Bourne player in the shape of David Cory whose shot from the right hand side was helped into the net by home defender Ryan Andrews. Cory again went close when he was just beaten to the ball by Chris Lewington in the home goal.

It took Sittingbourne eight minutes to level when Bradley Spice and Lee Spiller combined to find Dave Milton who finished well past Fewell. The home side then took a grip on the game with Hicham Akhazzan and Milton both going close.

Whitstable regained the lead four minutes before the break when after some good build up play the ball found its way to Jake Gess outside the area and his shot left Lewington clutching at thin air as the ball hit the back of the net.

The main talking point of the second half arrived on sixty one minutes when Referee Buck waved away Whitstable penalty shouts before home defender Joe Dowley stupidly pushed over Ian Pulman ana ct which led to an eventual penalty which Pulman duly converted. Even stranger was that this earned Dowley the Man of the Match Award.

A late headed goal from Spiller failed to dampen the fact that The Reds had survived their first season in the Ryman league Division One South and long may it continue
