Whitstable Town 2 vs Walton & Hersham 1 PDF Print E-mail
On a bitterly cold day at Belmont Road home side Whitstable Town welcomed Walton & Hersham along with striker Jon Neal who left The Town to join the Surrey side in December.
In the last meeting between the sides the Swans had beaten Whitstable 2-1in August and The Reds showed seven changes to the starting line up for this game.

An impressive crowd of 194 braved the wintry conditions and both sides put up an entertaining show. It was the home side who took the lead when the prolific Ian Pulman finished from close range after Tommy Martin had set David Cory to cross for Pulman to net.

Whitstable could have added to their lead only for some wayward finishing and some good goalkeeping with Pulman and Cory always causing problems.

Picture Per Laleng: Walton & Hersham pressed Town back at the start of the second half and Kevin Fewell was forced to make some vital saves along with some stout defending from Steven Lloyd and Liam Quinn..

It was David Cory however who extended the home side s lead when he fired a superb cross shot pas the the keeper and The Reds were 2-0 up.

Only two minutes later however The Swans pulled a goal back when after a cross had been half cleared a visitinga ttacker finished clinically past Fewell.

An equaliser was then denied after Referee Fissenden failed to give what looked like a blatant penalty after a visiting player was brougt down. A penalty was then awarded at the other end when Pulman was pulled down in the box. David Cory's spot kick was straight at the keeper and he pulled off a comfortable save.

Walton & Hersham had one last chance to nick a point when from a corner the ball was headed wided of Fewell's left hand post before Fissenden blew the final whistle in what was another good performance from Marc Seager's men.
