Whitstable Town travelled to Kingstonian on Saturday looking to move further away from the relegation zone in the Ryman Division One South. The Oystermen arrived at Kingsmeadow with the same starting eleven from the previous weeks 1-1 draw at home to Cray Wanderers after Tommy Martin recovered from a flu bug in midweek. The first chance of the game came after five minutes when Town's Jake Gess hit the ball tamely into the ground which gave home keeper Luke Garrard an easy save to make. The home side broke the deadlock after fifteen minutes when Dean Lodge evaded a tackle and his pass fell to Bobby Traynor who beat Kevin Fewell with a low shot to put the K's 1-0 up. In an uneventful half the home side extended their lead on 36 minutes when Stephen Goddard was allowed time and space to fire a low shot from the middle of the penalty area and give Fewell no chance for 2-0 K's. Minutes after the resumption of the game after half time Town defender Gary Sayer suffered a cut to his eye and was replaced by Dan Wisker. However this failed to stir the Yellows and Garrard didn;t have a save to make. With fifteen minutes remaining Gess did go close froma corner but his effort went wide of the home sides goal. The third and final goal came in the 82 minute when Goddard punished some lapse defending to beat Fewell and score his second goal of the game. Their was still time for the home side to miss anaother couple of good chances asthe clock ticked down. This was a day that Town were beaten by a better side.
