Young defender’s Josh Maine and Michael Adcock have both has set pre-season training for next season as their goal on the long road back from injury.
“How frustrating has my year been,” Maine said at the weekend: “I have been out the whole season with a really frustrating injury. No one knew what it was until last month when at long last I got to see a specialist and they confirmed it’s tendonitis, so at last I can start treatment. Watching the lads has not been easy and I wanted so much to test myself at Ryman level this season as I believe that under Marc I have become a better player”
Adcock, who has been advised to rest his troublesome back for three months is also aiming for next season return.” I am never very pleased with my own performances,” he told WTFC website after the Dover game when he picked up a thigh strain, “but I suppose I did ok against Dover but I still can’t believe I was booked as the tackle shows clearly on video that I won the ball. I suffered a few back twinges and have taken the specialist advise so will reluctantly have to rest until next season, but I will be back fitter and stronger and fighting for my place.” said the young 23-year old defender: Manager Marc Seager reacted to the news saying: “Although I am disappointed that I have not been able to have the likes of Michael and Josh in the squad I am delighted at the news that they will be back fit for next season. It will be like having two new ‘quality’ players to include in the team and I can’t wait to see them both back in the red shirts of Town. They both have massive futures with the club, how far we go as a club depends on they quality of players we have in the side at any one time, they have both been a big loss this season. Without these two lads, then a sidelined Robbie Thomas, and the loss of Jackson, and this is no disrespect to the lads we have in the side now but you are looking at five or six players that I have been missing since almost the first game of the season. Any manager wants a strong bench and to have players pushing each other for the shirt, it keeps everyone on their toes and makes them all better players. So the news that Robbie is on his way back to the first team and Josh and Michael will be back for next season is a big boost for the club.” |
