Seager: on the Floodlight Cup: Herne Bay 1 Whitstable Town 1
?It?s quite simple really, as the manager involved
with the first team I do not have the opportunity to see as much of all players
at the club as I would like. That?s why I wanted the club to be involved in this
midweek competition; it gives me the perfect opportunity to see first hand
players who normally I only get to see at training. Simon and Peter took the
game, as they would normally do, they speak to me regularly about their players
and I trust their judgement. If they say a player is ready to step up from the
reserves then I respect what they say, but there is no substitute for seeing the
lads play 90 minute myself.

Manager Marc Seager: "happy to have
stopped shipping goals."
Manager Marc Seager
said he is happy to have stopped shipping goals. ? My first objective when I
took over was to stop shipping so many goals, we went from a side last year, to
one this, who conceded almost a quarter of the goals we scored in the whole of last
season in the first week of this. So if you ask me am I happy that we have only
conceded two in the last three games the answer is yes, we have tightened up at
the back, so a clean sheet is a big plus. I am less than happy that we have not
found the net as often as I would have liked. With the quality forwards we have
here at the club we should be knocking them in

The
manager speaking?. Marc Seager after the 1-1 draw against Maidstone on
Saturday, Whitstable having the better of the first half, with Maidstone coming
into the game as the 2nd half progressed. He talks about the youngsters
at the club and the disappointment in the dressing room after the game. ?You?d
have thought we?d lost a cup final, instead of finishing with a draw against
Maidstone, but that just goes to show how much the games mean to them and how
much they wanted to win. There are many good players at the club, the
youngsters coming through and the way Simon and Peter have the reserves playing
the future of the club looks good.? for AUDIO 'See Audio Marc Seager 2' ABOVE' |

WTFC manager Marc Seager speaking proir to the Slade Green game...
Since I last spoke to you a lot has happened in a short
space of time. We've seen our FA.Cup run come to an end with the 2-1 replay
defeat away to Fleet Town. Fleet, incidentally, beat Thatcham last Saturday to move into the next round. We
bounced back from that defeat, however, to gain our first league victory of the
season with a great 3-1 win away to VCD. Last Saturday, with no scheduled
league game, we gained a very good 2-1 victory against a strong Dartford side
in a friendly. Anyone who was at that match will know that we should have won
by a more convincing scoreline.
