Picture Sam Prett: Whitstable should have scored as early as the 3rd minute, ex Town keeper Gary Arterton thwarting Steve Marshall, on the end of a Marc Seager corner. By the end of the first half Whitstable should have been 4-0 up, instead of the solitary Sam Prett goal, the fact that they had not put the game to bed was down to two things. Firstly, good defending by the visitors, in particular Arterton between the posts and his big centre half, Paul Goss who marshalled his defence superbly. Second, Whitstable squandering gilt end chances to kill off the visitors inside the first 45 minutes. Town manager Marc Seager will take comfort form the win, also the three points which gives him a platform to build on for next weeks home game against Maidstone. |

Picture: Marcus Perona: Whitstable Town 2 Dartford 1: Friendly game:
Sat 10th Sept 2005: "we should have scored six or seven" says
Seager...Whitstable?s were without skipper Andy Keir (unwell) and
keeper Mark Brown who has a slight strain, Mark Lane Town?s goal
keeping coach filled in between the sticks as Whitstable comfortable
beat Dartford with Whitstable manager Marc Seager leaving himself on
the bench. ?The score does not tell how much we bossed the game? said
manager Seager after the game,? it?s no exaggeration to say we could
have had another five or six in the second half alone, in the first,
Andy Constable hit the crossbar and Aaron Knight will be having dreams
about the header he missed. If I am upset by anything it?s that we did
not finish them off, I know it was only a friendly and both sides were
not at full strength but I was well pleased with the chance we created,
just not happy with the finale touch.?

Whitstable reserves
manager Simon Kay has arranged a game for his side against a mixed Lordswood
side: ?We need games and as both Lordswood teams, first and reserves are
without a fixture I think they will bring a strong side. We are playing at
Broomfield, (Bridge 3pm KO) and I am hoping the lads can carry on the good
performance we showed against Maidstone last week when we beat them in the
league 4-0.? said Kay

Whitstable Town Reserves gained their first win of the season after a draw and an opening day defeat. Town were dominant from the start, away at Maidstone and carved out a good three opportunities to take the lead. There was a debut in midfield for Alex Hossick and he slotted in well to the side almost helping to break the deadlock with a neat pass for Andy Martin but his shot was well saved. |
