against Herne Bay, saying he enjoyed getting on. ? It?s a bit hard on players
when they have to come off through injury, Marc coming off was a chance for me and I was pleased to get on
but I really felt it out there today, I am not as match fit as would like and
any player will tell you all the training in the world is not the same as
playing in a game. Training and playing
in a game, well that? completely different and I do need to work hard on my
match fitness so I can give of my best for Whitstable?

 Whitstable Town 1 v Herne Bay 1
Picture Aaron Knight scored Whitstable's goal:Rarely has there been two
consecutive drawn games between the two sides, the weather played its part in
the first leg away at Herne Bay when Whitstable looked to have the best of the
first half, only for Herne bay to come back into it as the weather worsened,
deservedly drawing the game. Today?s game started in much the same vain;
and the result ended at a goal apiece as it did in the pre Christmas match. For the second time running Whitstable started by far the brighter, Arron Knight blasting the ball over
Jack Delo?s crossbar after good work in midfield by Marcos Perona as early as
the 12th minute. Town?s management were forced into an early change,
Alex Hossick replaced Stuart Harrison after Harrison came of worst in a
heavy challenge.
Three minutes later, Delo dropped
the ball under a challenge from Andy Constable, the referee, making the first
of many poor decisions of the afternoon, deemed Constable to have fouled Delo
in the air. The referee, Mr Kieth Stone who one can only hope has had his one poor game of
this year, as on this display surely he can only improve in 2006.

 CHANGES AT THE TOP?....There could be a change in league leaders on Monday when victory
over Lordswood would lift Maidstone above Beckenham in the league. Monday sees
the return leg of the Christmas double headers, with Whitstable and Herne Bay
looking to go one better than last weeks draw. Erith & B fight it out with
Thamesmead again with the possibility of going 3rd in their sights whilst Deal
and Hythe hope that their will be no repeat of last weeks postponement. Whitstable's Andy Constable is 2nd behind Beckenham's Paul Vines in the race to be the leagues top scorer as we go into the New Year..

 Mark Lane Audio:....Mark speaking after the Herne Bay game played in appalling weather, both sets of players deserver full credit for the quality of football played. ?Normally you get a game called of with the frost, but we were very lucky today considering that amount of snow, the ref and the players made for a descent game of football. After the festive season I think everyone at the game today wanted to watch a game of football and the fact that it was a local derby added to that. Although I must say it was played in a good sprit and that was sensible from both sets of players, overall although I thought we had the better chances, the result sets the return game up nicely.?

Snow, and plenty of it was the opposition for both sides in
the first of this double header of Derby games over Christmas and the New Year.
That the game went ahead was due in no small part to the sterling efforts of
Herne Bay who?s stoic band of helpers worked from 10am until minutes before the
kick off to ensue the 330 plus souls, who although stuffed full of Christmas
fare were desperate to sample some Xmas football. With the game was in doubt until
minutes before the kick off, the ref said to both captains; saying simply ?We
start? implying that if conditioned worsened the game would be called off.
Fortunately, although the conditions at times resembled matches played in the
50?s and 60?s when fixtures were regularly played in blizzard conditions, thankfully the game
went ahead:

 Merry Christmas
A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Whitstable Town Football Club:
Marc Seager has asked me to pass on his seasons greeting to you all from himself, his backroom staff and all the players, he particularly asked that his thanks be passed onto the supporters, who he says are have been outstanding since he took over, ?like playing every game with an extra man? is how he put it. Off the pitch the committee and all involved with the running of the club send their good wishes to all involved with WTFC, we have made great strides in our continual improvements at ?The Belmont? but there is still much to do. The club?s aim is to have the best facilities, support a side that play the most attractive football and progress the football club at every level to ensure we can offer the best football to the people of Whitstable. But, and this is the important part they all know they will get their chance, it?s up to each and every one of them to hang onto the shirt once they have it.

 CHRISTMAS AND THE BAY GET 'DOUBLE BUBBLE' ?.Almost every team in the league can look forward to some derby fixtures over
the holiday period. On the north Kent coast Whitstable Town travel one
stop down the line to Herne Bay on the 27th December for KOF League match number
15 out of 30, and the Blues travel in the opposite direction on January the 2nd
for the reciprocal fixture at the Belmont Road Ground. Without a doubt the
league table will look very different after the holiday period as Beckenham,
Erith, Slade Green and Sporting Bengal will not so much as kick a ball this
Christmas, while all the others are engaged in intriguing derbies.
The Reds are currently 4 points and 4 places ahead of Bay in the table
and would dearly like to apply further pressure on the top two teams by grabbing
maximum points. Although Herne Bay are rebuilding their team they will not be a
pushover, after two good wins, Hythe in the cup and Tunbridge Wells in the
league, Andy Keir will need to maintain good discipline at the back to contain
them while our in form strike force do the business up front. |

 Whitstable manager
Marc Seager speaking about the supporters Xmas Party, the win against Hythe and
how happy he is with the way his players have responded since ho took over as
manager. ?If you had offered me, back in the summer when I took over as
Whitstable?s manager that we?d be in the quarterfinals of two cups, sitting 3rd
in the league going into the New Year I would have bitten your hand off. I
think that today?s game was a very important one for the club; it?s those sorts
of results that win teams titles and trophies, the type of game when you know
you are not playing well, but can still grind out a result. I know it was not the
best of games to watch, the supporters are used to us playing half decent
football and scoring goals but I?m sure they are just as happy with the three points

 ?Oysters grab the points?
Whitstable Town 1 v Hythe 0: ?KOKL Saturday 18th December 2005:
In a largely forgettable first 45 minutes played in a swirling wind, Whitstable had a below par game which new club sponsor Joe Brownett described as: ?the poorest I have seen the lads play this year?. His word were echoed by Whitstable manager Marc Seager who told his players at half time; ?we need to play at a higher tempo, take the game to them more and we can win, sure the wind is effecting the game, it?s the same for both sides but we all know we can play far, far better than we did in the first half.?
