Better late than
never? WTFC manager Marc Seager AUDIO: Due to some technical problems this interview was
from last Saturday and I have only just managed to process it for the website.
Marc was speaking about last Saturday?s poor result against VCD, and looking forward
to this Saturdays match. ?We need to bounce back, no one needs to tell me we
had a poor game, I know that and the players know that. The mark of a good side
is to bounce back when results don?t work out. This week we will be looking to
put another three points on the board and we are still firmly in the hunt for
third place in the league.?

WTFC reserves 5 v Folkestone Invicta 1
Whitstable Town
Reserves produced one of their best performances of the season to absolutely
demolish the Second Division league leaders in this first leg cup semi-final.
Whitstable were very wary of the threat that Folkestone could cause them after
three very close and competitive games last season. The first ten minutes
belonged to Folkestone as they came out and attacked Town from the off but Town
held firm. Town, probably against the run of play at this point took the lead
after good work by skipper Shane Davies
saw midfield maestro Jake Gess thread
a ball through for winger Darren Bridges
who ran onto his pass and fired a great right footed shot across the keeper to
put Town 1-0 up.

Make or break time?
The run in to the finishing tape starts in earnest this weekend as Whitstable
Town travel up the line to Park View Road to face an in form Erith and Belvedere
side. The Deres have a different look to the side that took the honours at the
Belmont way back in October, fresh faces being brought in by Wayne Brown to
consolidate a team that seemed intent on self destruction. The turn around has
brought twenty points from the last eight games and Wayne 'Manager of the Month'
for February. The Oystermen should take note that the six wins have been by a
single goal margin and that the Deres still have the worst goal difference in
the top six. Whitstable are on a run of nine away games without defeat and have
an away goal tally nearly twice that of the Deres home goals total (32,17). An
interesting match in prospect and an important one that could make or break the
season for both sides.

VCD halt Towns unbeaten run: WTFC 0 v VCD 2 Kent League:
The Belmont Ground 11th March 2006:The ?Vickers? finally halted
Whitstable?s 13 match unbeaten run in the Kent League stretching back to last
October with goals in the first and second half after Marc Seager?s side
slumped to their worst display at the Belmont for over two years. Unable to
muster a single shot on target in the whole of the 90 minutes they struggled in
all areas on a heavy surface, the match in doubt until an 11am inspection by a
local referee passed the pitch fit for play. That the visitors coped better on
the surface did little to gloss overt the fact that Town were 2nd to
the ball time in almost every challenge, when they did have the ball they
either surrendered possession with alarming ease or simple passes went astray
giving the ball straight back to the opposition.

Game Off?After a referee?s inspection at 3pm today: this evenings Reserves Cup Semi Final is OFF.
Bruce Smith saying: ?According to the rule we are duty bound to call in a referee,
he took one look and agreed that the match could not go ahead. Yesterday,
although it was still sticky from the weekend, it was playable and we were determined
to get the game on. Given the amount of rain today on top of already wet
surface, we had no choice but to call it off.?

No getting up 'til you eat those greens Whitstable Town look to equal the league's best 'unbeaten run' of fourteen at home to VCD Athletic on Saturday afternoon. Of course Marc Seager's troupe will also be looking to avenge last week's defeat in the Kent Senior Trophy, and having had a close look at their team and tactics it should be possible for the management to come up with a plan to unlock Fordy's midfield. The Vickers could also be distracted this week with Premier Division Cup semi-final legs on Thursday and next Tuesday evenings. With 1st playing 3rd in the league on Saturday this could be a great opportunity to close still further on the top of the table. Three points from the game would also put the Reds on an average of 2.04 points per game which is getting in amongst those of other promotion candidates at step five. Now clear that plate!

bust the Oyster Bubble?WTFC
0 VCD 1 Kent Cup: The Belmont Ground 4th March 2006 After the euphoria of a good
league performance last Saturday against erstwhile League Champions Maidstone, it was a below
par performance by Marc Seager Whitstable Town as they went out in the semi
final of the Kent Cup to VCD. The ?Vickers? came to the Belmont
full of confidence after a great run this season in the F.A. Vase when they
reached the last sixteen; a feat Town achieved some years ago; going out away to North Ferriby by the single goal. Today, it was Paul Fowley?s perfectly judged
header early in the second half, which saw Town, falter within touching
distance of silverware loosing by the single goal.
