Manager’s Update

New Whitstable manager Lloyd Blackman has given a brief update on plans for the 2019-20 season.

“Just a quick update to everyone about how things have been progressing for the last couple of weeks since taking over. It’s been a very busy period and the phone has been glued to my ear. Player retention, meeting possible signings as well as arranging pre-season friendlies have taken up a large amount of time.

I’m delighted to announce that of last season’s squad Dan Eason, Tom Bryant, Taylor Fisher, John Walker, Connor Sanders, Steve Smith and Harry Stannard have all agreed to stay for the upcoming season. I’m still speaking to other members of the squad and hope to have more players agree to remain at Whitstable next season.

Myself and my coaching staff are in constant communication and whilst the players rest and recuperate, there is no doubt that this is the busiest period for the backroom staff and with further meetings scheduled, I hope to have more news of incoming players very soon.

Leaving the club this summer is Stuart West and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work and time at Whitstable Town. He leaves with our best wishes and appreciation.”

Planning For Next Season Starts

Since the season ended, new manager Lloyd Blackman has been busy speaking with the Whitstable squad and also potential new signings. Three new players have agreed to join Whitstable for next season and they met with Lloyd at the Belmont Ground this week. Two have previously played for Whitstable and we look forward to seeing them back at the club.

These are the additions to the squad and what Lloyd had to say about them:

Osman Proni
A young attacking centre midfielder with outstanding technical ability and a player who really impressed me when my team played against him last season. He has a very bright future in the game. He has an absolutely outstanding attitude to want to improve and I’m really looking forward to working with him. He previously played for Sevenoaks Town, Erith Town and captained Dulwich Hamlet under 18s.

Osman Proni

Luke Girt
A tenacious midfielder who played for Whitstable during the 2014-15 season, when his hard work and battling qualities made him a fans’ favourite. He has since played for Ramsgate and Sheppey United. Having moved to the area recently I was extremely pleased he has chosen to come back to Whitstable after turning down other clubs to join us.

Luke Girt

Jake Mackenzie
An attacking full back who has the ability to play either on the left or right. He is arguably one of the best full backs in the division and, like Girty, chose to join us over other clubs. He made over a hundred appearances for Whitstable between 2012 and 2015 before moving to Ramsgate, having originally joined as a young player from Gillingham.

“I’m really excited about all three new players and looking forward to working with them. I’ll have more player news very soon.”

We are also in the process of arranging some pre-season friendlies, with matches against Folkestone Invicta, Cray Wanderers, Beckenham Town and Hollands and Blair so far agreed. More details will follow soon.
