Chatham Town Under 21s 1 Whitstable Town Under 21s 2

Ryman Under 21 League (South)

Monday 19th October 2015

Following on from a lacklustre performance last week, The U21s went into this game with a positive attitude. Early in the first half Chatham tried to stamp there authority on the game with a number of through balls for their very quick forwards to latch on to but Whitstable defence held firm and as the 1st half progressed began to take control and press forward themselves. At the end of the half Whitstable finally managed to put together a number of passes that resulted in a cross and a headed goal from new signing Marcel Henry-Francis.

Chatham Town had been forced to change their formation to deal with Whitstable’s game play but at the start of the 2nd half Whitstable had reverted back to a 4 4 2 line up and began to take control of the game with good build up play down the left hand side. On 62 minutes a move down the right produced a cross to the far post and Hurcomb finished his only chance of the game into the top of the net to put Whitstable into a 2-0 lead. Chatham had no choice but to press forward and try to bring their fast forwards into the game and after a number of efforts in front of goal, produced a through ball into the right hand side of Whitstable’s area which looked to have been dealt with by a great tackle from Jack Sayer only to be ruled as a foul by the referee and Chatham scored from the resulting penalty. With only seven minutes remaining Whitstable held their shape well and finished the game off for a pleasing 2-1 victory.

Hastings United United 21s 0 Whitstable Town Under 21s 1

Ryman Under 21 League (South)

Monday 7th September 2015

The U21s came away with all 3 points from Hastings yesterday following a close game against a young, pacy, and technically good Hastings side.

Town defended really well against a powerful and quick Hastings front line and managed to restrict the home side to long shots from outside the box. It was in fact Town that had the best chance of the first half on 40 minutes when Scott was clean through only to see his shot tipped around the post.

The second half was a closer affair, Town coming more and more in to the game as Hastings tired. Kitcherside made 2 quality saves from shots that looked destined for the back of the net, but with about 10 minutes remaining substitute Reed Wilson beat 2 men just inside the box and slid the ball under the advancing keeper to seal the win and 3 points.

It has been a tidy start for this young side, unbeaten in 3 including 2 tough away ties.
