WHITSTABLE TOWN APPOINT WILL GRAHAM

The ‘Board’ of Whitstable Town FC are pleased to announce that last night they appointed Will Graham as the next Football Manager of the Club.

Graham (30) whom was First Team Coach under the previous regime was appointed ahead of a dozen others that expressed an interest in the managerial vacancy despite the post not being advertised!

His immediate remit is to form the basis of a new squad, together with a new Management Team; after which he will Manage First Team affairs whilst overseeing the development of the Clubs prospects of the future via the U18s & U21s.

‘Will Graham, although a rookie deserves the opportunity (stated Chairman Gary Johnson) & certainly has the Club at heart having previously been involved a few years ago; he’s local and he is a UEFA A licensed Coach with connections throughout Kent. He is also ambitious and it appears hungry with a thirst to develop the potential within the Club, something that excited the Clubs ‘Board’……everyone has to start somewhere so let’s get behind Will and give him every chance of success; Whitstable Town FC certainly do not lack ambition, but they give a chance to folk to rejuvenate themselves or emerge within the game’.

Graham said ‘I’m an inspiring young coach, every manager in history started somewhere and I believe with my desire this is my opportunity to succeed as a manager and make my stamp on the game’.

Training & Trial dates will be announced shortly but any player whom believes they have what it takes are invited to send their playing CV and contact details to Will via secretary@whitstabletownfc.co.uk

The Clubs first confirmed Pre-Season Fixture is the Bruce Smith Shield against local rivals Herne Bay at The Belmont on Saturday July 11th.

UPDATE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

I and all at the Club were and indeed still are hugely disappointed in the Wards departure and the way in which the worst kept secret in football manifested.

The Club has been extremely loyal to the Management team & all the playing squad, something rarely seen in football; what we promised at the start of the season was delivered throughout to the final day.

Given that I on behalf of the Club briefly talked to every player individually after the Final game, inviting each and everyone back subject of course to the Manager’s requirements, it is disappointing to learn via text, social media and other sources that a number have been lured away by the promise of the golden pound.

What’s more, it has been reported by at least one player, is that some players have actually signed registration forms; how this can be the case when these have not (as yet) been available for next season is beyond me as does the comment made to me ‘you have to do what you do’ in terms of attracting and enticing players to move!

All players from last season will of course be welcomed back, we had fun and a great camaraderie throughout; this was our second continuous record breaking season, the previous under Nicky Southall when we reached the last 32 of The FA Trophy whilst this year has seen our highest league position and points amassed a credit to all involved. It’s only natural that we therefore continue on the trajectory of success; all at the Club would welcome the continuation of this and the feel good factor.

Our fans both Home & Away have been a credit, our gates increased by 19% to an average of 211.

As a result of this and the very nature of Whitstable Town FC a high number of expressions of interest in the managerial vacancy have been received without the club advertising the post.

Will Graham, has been (and remains) in contact with each and every player since the announcement of the previous managers’ departure with the backing of myself and the club whilst clearly staking his marker for the now vacant role.

Whitstable Town FC having consolidated their position since promotion to the Ryman League would welcome continued success, but must do so within its means.

The ‘Board’ of the Club will meet later this week and an announcement will follow in due course.

In closing, I would personally like to acknowledge the positive remarks and encouragement received from our fans and many associated at rival clubs, thank you.

KENT FA CUP FINAL SUCCESS

Congratulations to Tankerton FC who overcame Hotel DeVille 3-1 in the Kent FA Vets Final held at The Belmont.

With a gate of 170, some 110 more than this time last year; for the neutral this game was enthralling as the two teams battled out an excellent final played on a near perfect pitch given the time of the season.

Tankerton went into HT with a two nil advantage, only for DeVille to make much more of the second half and despite their valiant second half display couldn’t overcome the first half deficit.

Michael Tapp, Chair of the Kent FA Cups committee presented the Trophies to the appointed Match Officials, both sets of players & to the Man of the Match – Tankerton’s 10 Nick Green, whilst the match was very kindly sponsored by Koolpak (the UK’s leading supplier of First Aid & Injury products) the first sponsors of this competition that attracted 12 new entries to the competition this season.

A member of the Kent FA commented that this was one of their best finals yet, with the organisation second to none as Town officials illustrated just how they pull together to host such a final with the Kent FA & opponents wanting for nothing.

If you would like to hire The Belmont for your Cup Final, Corporate Match or other occasion then contact the Chairman Gary Johnson via email chairman@whitstabletownfc.co.uk or call him on 07957-424810

First it was Charlton Athletic, then it was Gillingham but now its Millwall bound for Aaron James latest invite to trial.

Championship & Football League Clubs continue to monitor the progress of both our regular First Team players together with the emerging talent within the U21s, as they continue to visit The Belmont looking at what’s on show.

Naturally we all wish Aaron well, but who could be picked up next playing for the Oystermen………… who else might currently be monitored?
