RAGGETT RETURNS TO DOVER

The Manager, Chairman & all at the Club were sorry to see Sean Raggett recalled by Dover Athletic FC & thank him for his services whilst wearing Whitstable colours.

Only hours earlier (Thursday late evening), the Management Team & Chairman were negotiating with Dover in an attempt to sign the player on Loan until the season end; however DAFC were adamant this would not be extended beyond the previously agreed date of February 24th.

Then out of the blue at 2pm on Friday DAFC exercised their rights by recalling ‘Raggett’ under the 24 hr notice within the agreement; given the time already served with us it is with much regret that (unless DAFC release the player) he will not return to the Oysters this season.

Raggett was on Dover’s bench & an unused substitute in their home fixture against Truro which they won 3-2.

The Club would like to note their thanks to Sean during his short period with us, he certainly made a positive impact, and to Dover Athletic FC.

STUART VAHID RETIRES FROM FOOTBALL DUE TO INJURY

It is with great regret that I have to announce that Stuart Vahid has had to retire from football with immediate effect due to an ongoing degenerative knee injury. Stuart joined us back in 2009 and has played 130 games for us scoring 44 goals. He had short spell back at Ramsgate before rejoining us at the start of last season.  He wish Stuart every success for the future and thank him for his loyal service to the club.  Also to let you know that James Brown has left the club to take a 2 year football scholarship in Kansas USA. Again we wish James every success in this venture.

MORE PLAYER NEWS

Shane Hamshare, whom has sadly found difficulties in attending training regularly & currently unavailable on a weekly basis due to employment issues, has joined Folkestone Invicta with immediate effect; similar to the recent release of Dane Luchford, neither will play any part in Folkestone’s return fixture against ourselves after Folkestone agreed upon a gentleman’s agreement in order they be released immediately.

PLAYER NEWS

I can announce that we have made a number of signings which were confirmed this afternoon.

Firstly those players joining are:-

Luke Coleman –  Former Margate and Ebbsfleet United striker who has joined from Chipstead

Ollie Lee – A central defender who  joined on work experience from Gillingham

Frankie Beale –  Also on work experience from Gillingham

Ebenezer Masade – Former Cray Wanderers  right winger

William Parkinson – Defender

Shaun Alliston  – Goalkeeper who has joined as cover for Nick Shaw

Sean Raggett loan spell from Dover Athletic has been extended until 24/2/2013 which will be the maximum period he can spend with us without signing permanently

It is with regret that we announce that Josh Hare who was on loan earlier in the season has now been signed by Maidstone United in another loan deal. Also Rob French has been released and has joined Herne Bay

Once I get more details about the new signings I will let you know via the website and the programme

THANK YOU

The Chairman, Gary Johnson, wishes to place on record his personal thanks to those Committee Members & Others that gave their time freely on Boxing Day Morning to ensure the long awaited local derby went ahead; he also thanked all whom attended despite the wintry weather & supported both clubs, adding, maybe you’ll return for the Merstham game on Saturday to continue the Oyster revival under Nicky Southall & his charges.

PLAYER UPDATE

Nicky Southall has just advised me of a couple of peices of Player News.  Firstly Damian Abel has decided to leave Whitstable Town. Our thanks to Damian for his time with us and we wish him every success in the future.

Coming in is Tom Brunt on loan from Gillingham. His player profile on the Gillingham website says ” The cultured midfielder, given his first professional contract in the summer of 2011, is another still awaiting his senior debut with the Gills.  Last season saw the former Chatham Grammar schoolboy gain valuable experience during loan spells at Ashford United and Leatherhead. Tom had previously joined Gillingham’s Centre of Excellence aged just eight and earned a youth team scholarship in 2009.”  We wish Tom every success whilst he is with us.

Nicky also confirmed that the club has received  international clearance for new signing James Brown.
